What happens at Doggy Daycare?

The dogs are free to roam in the daycare pen inside or in the fenced-in outdoor area and have the ability to come and go as they please.  We also provide each dog with an hour-long walk during his or her stay.  We take the dogs out back on our 27 acres of beautiful country property.  The dogs are never left unattended.  Typically after lunchtime, the dogs usually nap to recoup for the rest of the afternoon.

What do I need in order to sign my dog up for daycare?

Vaccines: We require that all dogs have their up-to-date vaccines and some extras:

▪ DHPP

▪ Rabies

▪ Leptosorosis

▪ Bordetella

 *Disclaimer*

Though your pet may be vaccinated against Bordetella, it is just like the Flu Shot.  It will not prevent your pet from contracting it, however it will reduce the severity of symptoms.

Paperwork:

▪ Daycare and Boarding Agreement

▪ Off-leash Agreement

▪ Bortedella Waiver

Socialization:

▪ Our daycare is for dogs that are already socialized and to maintain socialization while you are away or at work, etc.

▪ We do not offer daycare to those that have never been socialized

▪ We have a big pack of some great dogs, and we want to make sure that they fit into our already existing pack

What size or breeds of dog can attend daycare?

We accept all shapes and sizes, everyone is welcome!

Can my dog be off-leash?

We do offer the option of allowing your dog an off-leash trail walk, however they must have a good recall and you will be required to sign a waiver that asks you to check whether or not your dog can be off-leash on the trails.  We also do not allow a new daycare dog to be off leash right away; we like to build a bond first.  This is to ensure that way we have a good relationship with your dog before we allow them off-leash.

What do I need to bring for my dog to attend daycare?

All you have to bring are the following: vaccination proof, signed waivers and agreements, and your dog’s leash - that’s it!

How do you make sure all the dogs get along?

The dogs are supervised the entire time they are out in the indoor and outdoor pens.  When we introduce new dogs, we typically recommend a ½ day trial as we slowly introduce the new dog to the pack members.  If for any reason your dog does not get along with our pack, unfortunately we would have to recommend trying a different daycare facility.

How old does my puppy have to be to attend?

We welcome puppies as early as 4-5 months.  We also gladly welcome dogs well into their senior years.

What should I expect from my dog after a day at daycare?

Your dog should be TIRED! Hopefully you’ll get some peace and quiet that evening, and even the next few days after daycare.  Some dogs may have sore feet; this is because our outdoor pen is covered in pea gravel.  Some dogs require a conditioning to the pea gravel, so they will have to build up their paw pads’ strength over time and exposure.

Does my dog have to be neutered or spayed by a specific age?

We do require that all dogs be neutered or spayed by the age of one year.

Do you still take the dogs out in inclement weather?

Yes we do, unless there is a thunderstorm.  We will trek through almost any weather, rain or shine, to ensure your dog gets their exercise while in our care.

DOG BOARDING

What are your prices?

$52.00+HST/day

Do you require a deposit?

We do require a 50% deposit at time of booking.  This is to ensure that the kennel for your dog is held.   We require the remaining 50% at drop-off.

What if my family has more than one dog? Do they get a bigger kennel?

We have the room to accommodate more than one dog per family.  In fact, we have had families with 4 dogs stay comfortably in our kennel spaces. We also have the ability to extend one of our kennels into an extra large space.

What do I need to bring for my dog’s overnight stay?

For overnight stays, please bring the following:

▪ Bed or blanket

▪ Their food to last the whole stay in a sealed container, as well as a measuring cup

▪ Their leash and any walking tool you may be using

▪ Some treats

▪ If your dog requires a slow feeder, please bring that, otherwise we provide our own bowls

▪ Vaccination proof: DHPP, Rabies, Bordetella, Leptospirosis

▪ All signed: Daycare & Boarding Agreement, Off-Leash Waiver, Bordetella Waiver

▪ A shirt that you wore sometime during the week (helps with dogs who have separation anxiety)

▪ A couple of their favorite toys

▪ A list of medications and how/when they need to be given

Where will my dog stay?

Your dog will stay in a luxurious 6’ by 4’ dog run. In this area, there is an automatic water bowl, space for a bed or cot, and some open space if they just want to lie on the concrete flooring.

Will there be other activities for my dog while in your care?

During the day, if your dog is daycare appropriate, they can partake in daycare throughout the day.  If your dog is not daycare appropriate, they will get alone time in the indoor and outdoor pen areas multiple times throughout the day. On top of spending quality time with them, we offer two one-hour hikes throughout the day and through the 27 acres of our beautiful property.  You will be able to keep up-to-date with your dog’s stay on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

What if my dog is ‘dog aggressive’?

We have the tools and experience to allow aggressive dogs to stay in our care. We have obstacles to put between an aggressive dog so that they cannot hurt another dog in our care through the kennel.  We also would not be able to have them partake in daycare, however they would still get their 2 one-hour walks throughout the day.

What happens if my dog needs to go to the vet while in your care?

Upon drop-off of the signed agreements, there are two sections for contact information; yourself and someone you trust to make decisions in case you are not close by to attend.  We will first call the owner; if there is no answer, we then call the alternate contact. If there is no answer at either number, we will take the dog to the vet right away.  Your pet’s health is our number one priority. Please note that in case of an emergency where time is of the essence,  we will proceed to take your pet to the nearest ER vet and contact you immediately.

What are your pick-up and drop-off times?

From Tuesday to Saturday, pick-up and drop-off times are between 7am and 6pm. On Sundays  and Mondays, pick-up and drop-off times are either 8am or 8pm. We suggest when dropping off your dog, to give yourself some time and arrive earlier.  This will help your dog become acclimated to the new surroundings and settle in before bed.

Can I get my dog groomed before I pick them up? What do you charge?

You can definitely get your dog groomed before they go home.  Please ensure you book your dog’s grooming at the same time you book their boarding stay.  Each dog is different and we price accordingly, so please contact us to discuss further details and pricing.
